Dubbed “the queen of good humor and common sense” by The Literary Guild, Karen writes about the health of our relationships, emotions, souls, and dreams. She is also a humorous, inspirational speaker, delighting audiences at church, corporate and community events on a regular basis.
She has written more than a dozen books under the name Karen Scalf Linamen, including The Chocolate Diaries: Secrets for a Sweeter Journey on the Rocky Road of Life, Only Nuns Change Habits Overnight and Just Hand Over the Chocolate and No One Will Get Hurt.
In 2015, she married John Bouchard. They originally met in church youth group in the early ’70s, reconnected four decades later, fell for each other (again), and tied the knot at a cowboy wedding. (You can read all about their love story here.)
Karen is also Creative Director at LearningRx, a one-on-one brain training company helping kids and adults learn easier, think faster, and perform better.
She’s also a mom and grandma.
And she belly dances.
Karen says her greatest skill is stumbling through life and living to tell the stories. She has always told these kinds of stories, even as a kid writing poety, or publishing a neighborhood magazine filled with chatty news about the families who lived on her street. Today she’s still telling stories, her own and those of folk she meets, because she believes that our stories help us heal, help us grow, and definitely help us make sense of life.
Karen lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
